Soul Defeat Valor 68-41

Philadelphia PA – The Philadelphia Soul (11-1) soundly defeated the Washington Valor (1-10) by a score of 68-41 in front of an energetic crowd at the Wells Fargo Center tonight.  This was the Soul’s third victory this season against Washington, and it was a much different result than the 48-47 game both teams played on May 27th.  Tonight’s victory also gave Philadelphia home field advantage throughout the AFL playoffs.

Soul wide-out Shaun Kauleinamoku, part of the dynamic three-headed monster of receivers, was the standout star of the night with 4 touchdowns.  Philadelphia quarterback Dan Raudabaugh threw for 9 touchdowns to five different receivers, and fullback Mykel Benson scored both receiving and rushing.

The Soul defense had one of its better performances of the year, with a mix of sacks, forced fumbles, and interceptions.  James Romain continues his amazing 2017 season, leading the team in tackles and interceptions.  ”We played great in the second half, unbelievable,” Philadelphia coach Clint Dolezel said about his defense in his post-game press conference.  ”It’s there for us.  When we’re playing at a high level, we’re tough to beat.”

Philadelphia has a bye week before returning to Baltimore, the only place they have lost all season, in a game that coach Dolezel will certainly have circled on the calendar for revenge.  With only two games left in the season, the Soul are back to firing on all cylinders and will certainly be the team to beat once again in this year’s playoffs.
